| Career Summary | Jim joined RHB in 1998 as an Associate and was promoted to Partner, becoming a full Designated Member of the Practice upon the change of company status, with responsibilities covering electrical engineering and project management. He is the Partner responsible for the education sector of the industry, and provides support and advice to a number of large educational organisations. Jim is an active electrical designer, not only involved in the management of the Practice, but also in project design and management. Jim’s educational experience has been gained over a period of 30 years working for various local authorities along with lecturing on a part-time basis to engineering students.

| Experience | Design of electrical services in a wide variety of building types, giving clients cost advice on new and refurbishment projects, carrying out surveys on existing installations and producing reports, specifications and feasibility studies. Typical recently completed projects are as follows:- New dining hall extension and dance studio at Brune Park School. Replacement technology block at Costello Technology College, Basingstoke. New sports development at Perins School, Alresford. New sports development at Thorngrove School near Newbury. New art and drama block at Henry Beaufort School, Winchester. New drama and music block at Brookfield School, Sarisbury. Replacement for existing services at Gilbert White’s House and the Oates Museum, Selbourne, this project receiving an RIBA Commendation. New school projects at Portchester, Waterlooville and Fawley. Specialist clean room facility for contract lens manufacturer with approximately 2500m2 clean room. 10,000m2 office headquarters refurbishment and computer suite in London for P & O. 14,000m2 16-storey office refurbishment in Woking. Design and project managment a £1.5 million security system installation for a large national company involved in the defence industry. The installation comprised an integrated CCTV and access control system with fibre-optic links (to MOD standards) on a multi-unit 50,000m2 business park. Lettable speculative offices of 4000m2 and 1500m2 on the first phase of a 100,000m2 new business park in Dartford, with installations comprising lighting, power and fire alarms, with future provision for prospective tenants. Factory and offices of 6000m2 in Slough, comprising lighting, power and fire alarm installations. Warehouse and offices of 3000m2 for an international logistics company in Slough comprising lighting, power, fire alarms, voice and data installations. Feasibility study for an internationally known retailer for refurbishment of their 6000m2 store in Regent Street. Speculative warehouse and offices of 2500m2 in London for local private developer. |
